Nevada is one of the few remaining oil frontiers in the United States. The Great Basin contains some of the thickest, and most organically rich shale found anywhere. However, the geology can be complex, making it a challenge to discover new fields. But when those fields are discovered, they can be large. For a time, the Grant Canyon #3 well was the most prolific onshore well in the U.S., producing approximately 4,000 barrels of oil per day for four years. The Trap Springs field has produced approximately 16 million barrels of oil. We consider our White River Valley prospect to be a very close geologic analog to the Trap Springs field.
